Ansel Adams is one of the most important fine art photographers of the last century. His landscape, Winter Morning, Yosemite Valley, which adorns this disposable coffee can, was manufactured by Hills Brothers in 3 and 5-pound versions. Adams's image is copyrighted and credited — perhaps a first in American advertising. Although Adams did not sepia-tone his original photographs, perhaps the brown coloration was meant to underscore a visual association with the can’s contents.
